Emotions are often misunderstood and stigmatized, especially when tied to gender. In Western cultures, being emotional is wrongly linked to irrationality and weakness, with women frequently labeled as more sensitive and less rational than men. Despite no scientific basis for gender differences in emotionality, these stereotypes persist, impacting how emotions are perceived and expressed. Understanding and valuing emotions is essential for breaking these harmful stereotypes and fostering emotional intelligence.
